Hope springs eternal
Last Thursday towards the end of May 2025 I joined Substack! I’ve been aware of it for several years but decided to finally take the plunge. I’ve spent a decade+ now privately journaling in Evernote, OneNote, Google Docs, and spend much of my free time nowadays reading, thinking (often, about questions with no answers 😅), and writing. For years, I tried finding other people who enjoyed reading/writing but no matter where I looked (FB, Reddit, Ghost, X, Bluesky), all those efforts failed. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal, so I’m here now.
Here to make friends
I’m honestly just here in hopes of making writerly friends. I don’t really care to run my own newsletter and don’t want to be a solo act. Rather, in the
vein that has pioneered, I’m hoping I can find a “squad” here on Substack which I can be apart of. Basically, five or six other interesting people to share the journey with who love reading and writing. One goal I specifically have is finding people who enjoy engaging in discourse-via-essay format-style dialogues (à la “Federalist/Anti-Federalist Papers”). Am looking for a Cato to my Publius; a Demosthenes to my Locke. Folks to volley back and 500-700-word pieces exploring some topic or idea.
Always love meeting new people
If you’re keen, please do say hello! 👋
